λοχεύω, 1) die Geburt zur Welt bringen, sowohl von der Mutter, gebären, παῖδα, H. h. Merc. 230, als auch von der Hebamme, eine Frau entbinden, τίς λοχεύει σε, Eur. Ion 948 El. 1129; pass., ἐλοχεύϑην, Troad. 597; ἐπώνυμος τῆς πρόσϑεν ἀδμήτης χρόνῳ μητρὸς λοχευϑείς Soph. O. C. 1324; auch λοχευϑείσης αὐτοῦ τῆς μητρός, als die Mutter entbunden wurde, Plut. Cic. 2. – Häufiger im med., gebären, Aesch. frg. 150 u. oft bei sp. D., auch von Thieren, Arist. H. öfter; u. übertr., hervorbringen, ἄρτι λοχευομένην σε μελισσοτοκων ἔαρ ὕμνων Ep. ad. 524 (VII, 12). – 2) bei Ar. Pax 1019 = λοχάω; vgl. Ap. Rh. 1, 762.
